Hidden Talent

Although we get paid to be a innovative bunch, outside of hours our team use their free time to compose, paint, draw, make films, write poetry and all manner of other creative pursuits.

Here’s the first examples of work from our talented team…

MILAND SUMAN

Miland lives and breathes moving image, so when the opportunity arises for some out of hours creative action he is rarely a man to say no. So, when the chance was offered to work on an exiting new pop promo for Australian singer songwriter, Bertie Blackman, the answer was a resounding ‘yes please’! Working in partnership with 3D artist Richard Thomas, the pair formed a directorial collaboration and found themselves up against all the usual restraints of the modern pop promo.

The dynamic duo pulled out all the stops to create a highly original, creative and technically complex animated film for the new single ‘Black Cats’. In just 12 evenings Miland and Richard developed the creative treatment, made and cut out 6 cardboard puppets from Bertie’s artwork and rigged, shot and animated the elements to create a 3 minute film where each shot is individual, there are no repeats of backgrounds or animation.

Miland and Richard received high praise for the finished film, Bertie loves it and her management company think it’s ace. But Miland and Richard aren’t hanging around, work has already started on their next project, another promo for the new single from Notorious Hi-Fi Killers – watch this space for more!

ALEX HARE

Having an artist for a father, Alex certainly proves the old adage that the apple never falls far from the tree. Alex has worked as a graphic designer and as a character designer and animator, experiences which have helped to hone his distinctive style. Whilst the majority of his work starts life on paper, Alex’s true love (apart from his lovely girlfriend, of course) is digital art. With a love of comics, his inspiration ranges from from the more traditional styles of Gary Larson and Calvin and Hobbs through to the Italian Futurists and Japanese Manga.

GEORGE BELCHER

Our resident ‘old master’ George is a hugely talented artist, having created some truly exceptional pieces of work. George began painting at an early age but it wasn’t until 2001 that his focus switched to oils. In 2008, George’s painting ‘Scream on the Underground’ came first place in the annual Square Art competition hosted by Golden Square Post Production in Soho. With an upcoming exhibition in America this October, George’s work is sure to win him new fans across the pond to add to the many he has in the UK.

George writes of his work: “With the digital age now upon us, the consumption of the visual image is at an all time high, reproductions of imitations are passed around and the camera’s honesty is taken into question. Painting has become a refreshingly true version of the visual form and is the perfect medium to reflect, comment and critic an accelerating contemporary world where image is everything.”

LEE BAMSEY

The inspiration behind ‘Without Face’ was born out of witnessing the ‘over-exposure’ of cult figures. This growing collection of paintings remasters shots of well know individuals, in a way that challenges public perception. By making the subject faceless, their persona is demystified in one sense, but becomes an illusion in another by leaving the spectator guessing the identity. Check back to see another picture and guess the identity.
